OVERSTATEMENT/OVERSTEINUNN: Expresiones de expectativas
¡No espere nada! ¡Espere todo! ¡Espere cualquier cosa! ¡Espere algo! ¿Qué esperan? Este es un proyecto de solo en curso realizado por la coreógrafa islandesa Steinunn Ketilsdóttir. A través de una serie de manifiestos, declaraciones articuladas e incorporadas, ella expresa las expectativas del performance y de la performer, y simultáneamente, las va cuestionando.
El proyecto surge de su lucha por explicar y articular sus visiones y trabajos artísticos en relación con los contextos institucionales de los circuitos del arte. De cara al desafío ella decidió sobre-articularse, sobre-explicarse y sobre-expresarse en una tentativa de transmitir su propia multiplicidad. En consecuencia, ella podría sobre-manifestarse o sobre-declararse para hacer un sobre-manifiesto, un overstatement; no perder de vista que esta palabra en español traduce literalmente Exageración. Steinunn tiene muchas expectativas de lo que éste proyecto será. De lo que no será. De aquello que podría ser. Y de lo que no podría ser.

Creación, concepto y perfomance: Steinunn Ketilsdóttir
Steinunn Ketilsdóttir is an Icelandic choreographer based in Reykjavík. She graduated with a BA in Dance from Hunter College NY in 2002 and in 2016 she earned an MA in Performance Studies from NYU Tisch School of Arts. Steinunn has worked internationally throughout her career, in solo work and in collaboration with other artists, creating a number of works that have been shown at venues and festivals in Iceland in Europe and in New York. She has been an active member in the Icelandic dance scene as a maker, performer, and teacher, and involved in the development of Reykjavík Dance Festival and the founding of Reykjavík Dance Atelier. Steinunn is currently developing her interest in the notion of expectations through her ongoing solo project OVERSTATEMENT/OVERSTEINUNN: Expressions of Expectations and the choreographic research project EXPRESSIONS: the power and politics of expectations in dance, alongside other group projects and collaborative projects.
